Day 1 - Marrakech

Arrival at Marrakech Menara International Airport. Administrative procedures, baggage collection, welcome by your local guide, and transfer to your centrally located hotel in Marrakech, where you will spend the night. Day 2 - Southern Morocco and the Palmeraie of Tinghir
Meet your guide at 8 a.m. and depart towards southern Morocco, crossing the High Atlas Mountains through the beautiful Tizi N'Tichka pass (2260m) to descend towards Ouarzazate, where we will have a picnic break. Then, we will take the road of the 1,000 kasbahs, crossing the palm grove of Skoura created in the 12th century by Yacoub El Mansour. It is dotted with numerous earthen fortresses resembling gigantic sand castles, such as the Amerhidil kasbah overnight in the oasis of Skoura (5hour drive) (overnight in an inn)

‍Day 3: The Oasis of Merzouga & the dunes of Erg Chebbi
From skoura to the oasis of Merzouga, the Oued Ziz has carved its bed among rocky hills and pinkish ocher cliffs, fertilizing the banks with a double row of palm trees. Then, the valley widens, the mountains lower, and gusts of warm air announce the approach of the desert. The sand begins to make appearances, and the palm grove flourishes. This is Tafilalet, with over 1 million date palm trees. Tafilalet offers splendid desert landscapes punctuated by lush and refreshing palm groves. We will pass through Rissani, the cradle of the Alawite dynasty, and Sijilmassa, the former Berber capital of Tafilalet, founded in 757. This region was one of the crossing points for caravans of slaves and the gold trade from Sudan and Guinea. It was also a place of encounters and exchanges between Arabs, Berbers, and Africans who used the oasis water points to establish their caravan trade towards sub-Saharan Africa.
We will continue to the oasis of Merzouga, heading towards the desert with its vast infinite spaces and dunes of fine ocher-orange sand. Meet our camel drivers. Loaded camels, we set off towards the southern part of Erg Chebbi, in the highest dune area of the erg. The Harmattan, the "desert wind," which sweeps across the Sahara, has shaped the most beautiful dunes in Morocco here. The red color of its sand reminds of the magnificent dunes of Sossusvlei in Namibia. Picnic lunch. Bivouac in the Bouierd dunes. (150 km/2-hour drive) (4 hours of walking) (Bivouac)

‍Day 4 - The dunes of Merdani
First day of immersion in this magnificent dune massif. We meander through waves of sand, sometimes through corridors between high dunes, sometimes along the ridges of the erg. Picnic stop at Boughanim, where we can meet nomads who come to water their livestock at the water point. In the afternoon, we will continue towards the dunes of Merdani, where we will set up the bivouac. (6 hours of walking) (Bivouac)

‍Day 5 - The dunes of Erg Znagui
Departure through a rocky reg plateau. We pass through the N'Fiss Mountains and have a picnic break in the shade of acacia trees before crossing small dunes to reach our bivouac at Erg Znagui. (6 hours of walking) (Bivouac)

‍Day 6 - The dunes of Douifa
At the leisurely pace of the camels, between sandstone peaks and immense dunes, our Saharan journey continues, leaving the village of Taouz on our left to cross the Oued Ziz. During our walk, we will discover rock carvings that testify to human presence in these regions since ancient times. Bivouac at the foot of the dunes of Douifa. (6 hours of walking) (Bivouac)

‍Day 7 - The dunes of Ouzina
We trek through the mountains of Jebel Ahouar, with a cone-shaped mountain as our destination. It is a sentinel rock bordered by the Oued Rheris to the west and the Oued Ziz to the east, which runs along the Hamada du Guir. These two wadis supply the largest oasis in Morocco, Tafilalet, with over a million date palm trees. You will cross rocky landscapes of black schists and marble outcrops, as well as encounter significant dunes. Bivouac in the magnificent dunes of Ouzina, at the foot of Jebel Ahouar. ‍Day 8 - The Hamada du Guir & the dunes of Remlia
We leave the dunes of Ouzina towards the last Saharan village before crossing the Hamada du Guir. This region is inhabited by the Ait Atta Berber tribes and Gnaoua people, descendants of former black slaves who came from Sudan during the Saadian period. Our journey continues towards Ras Kamouna, crossing the Oued Rheris, whose frequent floods in winter fertilize the alluvial plain cultivated by the nomadic Ait Khebbach tribes. There is a possibility of encountering some nomadic camps. Our bivouac will be set up in the dunes facing the ocher earth houses of the Remlia village. (6 hours of walking) (Bivouac)

‍Day 9 - The Jebel Zireg
This morning, we make progress through the Mharech Mountains and the Maider depression, which turns into a lake during the rainy season, to reach the Zireg Cirque, the "Blue Mountain." It is a vast circus of blue-tinged rocks embedded with orange dunes. Bivouac at the foot of Jebel Zireg to admire the beauty of the place. (6 hours of walking) (Bivouac)

‍Day 10 - The Oasis of Nkob
We will take a local vehicle to reach the Oasis of Nkob. It is home to numerous kasbah villages, remnants of the trans-Saharan caravan trade that played an essential role in the development of southern Morocco. The imposing, restored, and well-maintained kasbahs of Nkob lend undeniable charm to this village. The beauty of the oasis with its date palm trees adds to the charm of the place. Taking a leisurely stroll around the area is a highly enjoyable experience. Surrounding the oasis is the Hamada, impressive in its mineral composition, contrasting with our lush oasis. This territory also includes rock art sites and numerous fossils, evidence of the time when the region was a vast savannah. (130 km/3 hours) (Accommodation: Kasbah)

‍Day 11 - Return to Marrakech
Breakfast facing the palm grove before returning leisurely to Marrakech, where we will arrive in the late afternoon. Check-in at your hotel. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay at a 3-star hotel (or riad as an option). 320 km/5 hours by road - Accommodation: 3-star Hotel
